generally this is a story about pioneer life on the frontier of america in the 1770's. it is the story of martha murray,her husband,sam murray, and their daughter violet.they have taken into their family a boy,hugh m'connell.this story centers around martha's hope's for her daughter violet.her wish is for violet to marry well and move back east.martha's own life on the frontier has been harsh, and her wish is that violet might escape the same fate.hugh is a man cut out for the rigors of the frontier,and as they have grown up together hugh and violet have fallen in love with one another,though niether are truly aware of it.
this book is well written,and it is avery good read.it has agood mix of adventure, romance, and tradgedy. sadly however it is probably out of print,but if you happen to aquire a copy, it will be worth every cent.
