The book includes a forward by John Betjeman and chapters on the history of thatching, the use of long straw, combed wheat reed, Norfolk reed (water reed), spar making, thatching tools, fire precautions, estimating (in pounds, shillings and pence!) and roof construction and a brief glossary of thatching terms.
