The book argues that all culture and civilization of Russia and Eastern Slavs, including political institutions, social order, scientific and technological advances, have their ultimate origin in the Western Civilization and its creative potential. Keller argues that the balance-sheet of the East-West relationship is simple: all that the West has achieved has been done without a single contribution from the Russians, and all that the East has achieved has been done without a single contribution from the Russians.
