An astute account of the peoples, customs, and topography of the Caucasus region, as well as personal observations on the Great Game, by an English diplomat based in Tiflis (now Tbilisi, Georgia). The author traversed the length and breadth of the country on horseback shortly after the Russo-Turkish Campaign of 1877.
