Philip Richard Thornhagh Gurdon was a superintendent of ethnography in the time of pre-independent India. In this book, his take on Assamese proverbs is a little funny and the proverbs themselves are very humourous. Although most of the proverbs are not in use today, but their explanation and targeted reaction are briefly explained by the author.
