Subtilisin enzymes

Presents results from a wide range of disciplines on the most extensively studied model system for protein engineering, not only pointing to lucrative commercial exploitation, but also providing a basis for investigating other members of the subtilase protein superfamily that scientists expect to encounter as genomes are more extensively mapped. The 29 papers cover structural studies of subtilisin enzymes alone and in complex with inhibitors, new enzymes, structure-function studies, biophysical probes and mutagenesis, and protein engineering.
