There were Jewish anticommunists, Protestants, blacks, and Catholics; there were Socialists, union leaders, businessmen, and conservatives; there were ex-Communists and former fellow travelers. They quarreled among themselves about philosophy, tactics, and everything else except the evil of communism itself.
