Description
Delcy Morelos (Tierralta, Colombia, 1967), of indigenous descent, grew up in Córdoba, one of the areas of Colombia hardest hit by the paramilitary violence of the late twentieth century. She has dedicated her artistic career to elaborate, through the treatment of substance and pictorial materiality, a subtle reflection on notions relating to color and its means: the body, the skin, the race, the earth, violence, emotion. Morelos builds her work from an extremely slow process, in which each piece is elaborated with great patience: she pours, over several months, layers and layers of paint on a horizontal surface, which leave in the end an almost organic result and full of texture
