Description
Descendants of Francois Savoye (1620-1678), who arrived at Acadia (Nova Scotia) ca. 1641 probably from the Poitiers area of France or northern Italy. He and his wife Cathrine Lejeune (b. 1634, d. before 1678) had nine children. The line in this book is through their son Germain (1654-1739) and his wife Marie Beraud, who had twelve children. Various Savoye family groups (all related to each other) came to Louisiana between 1765 and 1767. Francois Savoye (b. 1731), son of Charles Savoye and Francoise Martin, appears to be the first Savoye to have an official documented record in Louisiana. He married Marie Landry in St. Louis Church, New Orleans, on July 22, 1765.
