The author provides a critical analysis of Marx’s philosophy with reference to preceding, contemporaneous and modern schools of thought. Jindřich Zelený examines the precise tenets of Hegelian logic and shows exactly what Marx adopted from them. His ability to render Hegelian and mathematical logic intelligible is as welcome as it is unusual. In pursuing this enquiry the author has also been able to reach some important conclusions concerning the non-Hegelian aspects of Marx’s logic and the relationship of that element in his thought to the work of Russell, Carnap and Tarski.
