First epic-historic poem written in Cuba in 1608 by Silvestre de Balboa. It tells of the capture of the bishop of Cuba, Fray Juan de las Cabezas Altamirano by a group of French pirates and of his ransom and rescue by a group of men from Bayamo (1602).
