Description
"This book is the result of thirty years' research by Dr. R.J. (Bob) Chinnock, the world authority on the family Myoporaceae. He has produced a new classification of the family resulting in the delimitation of three new genera, 95 new species and 46 new subspecies, and a revised inhageneric classification of the genera Eremophila and Myoporum. The treatment of the species in this work includes a detailed description, photographs, analytical drawings and notes on distribution, ecology, conservation status and relationships." "Myoporaceae is largely restricted to Australia, where five of the seven genera occur - Calamphoreus, Diocirea, Eremophila, Glycocystis and Myoporum. Of these five all but Myoporum are endemic. Myoporum is largely Australian, however, with a number of species extending into the Pacific (including New Zealand and Hawaii) and one to the Indian Ocean. The two genera not represented in Australia each contain a single species - Bontia, which is restricted to the Caribbean (with plants recently found in Florida, near Miami), and Pentncoelium, restricted to southern China, Japan and northern Vietnam."--Jacket.
