"This book contains approximately 2,000 land grants recorded in Greene County, Tennessee. Some of these grants were made by the U.S. Government to pay off debts to officers and soldiers who served in the Revolutionary War; some of the grants was land owned and sold by Lord Granville; while other grants were issued by the states of North Carolina and Tennessee to encourage settlement in the new state of Tennessee.
