Description
An analysis of this rebellion, staged by the Muslims of Malabar, known as the 'Moplahs' or 'Mappillas'. Also analyses the way in which Moplah attitudes to power evolved from the time of the rule in Malabar of Hyder Ali and Tippu Sultan to the end of the Moplah Rebellion in 1922. The interpretation of the evolution of the rebellion owes much to analysis of social relations in the Malabar countryside; and it tends to contrast with the approach of Professor Stephen Dale of the University of Ohio, an expert in Moplah history.
