Handbook of Patrology

The author, a patristic scholar and an experienced professor, has written this most useful introduction to patrology. It is intended to initiate the student and to provide a spledid overview of the scope and wealth of early Christian literature. The work covers the Latin Fathers down to Gregory the Great (died 604) and the Greek Fathers to John Damascene (c. 750). It is a masterful resume of modern patristic research, and should serve as a basic text in the field.
