Neonatologist Dr. Martin Connaughton is renowned for his devotion to his tiny patients. And he's also well-known for his irritation with hospital politics.

He finds himself -- not for the first time -- in conflict with the chief of surgery, who recommends an operation for Martin's newest patient. Martin disagrees -- and refuses to back down, no matter how much prestige the operation might bring the hospital.
