Description
Tromendous work. Pictures and descriptions of almost 1000 desert flowers of Big Bend Region or Texas. Example, this area has several varieties of poppies, and the native indians knew the medicinal uses of each of them. Many plants in the desert may flower only once in several years, and the flowers last a very short time. This is the LIFETIME work Barton Warnock; who grew up on family ranch in West Texas, went away and earned PHD in Botany, and returned to the area to teach at Sul Ross University. He knew most ranchers in the area, who would call him when they saw something new. (As a colletor note, there was only 3,000 copies printed in the 1970's, so if you see a copy, do not let it slip out of your hands.)
